The Health Professionals Council (HPC) and the Seychelles Medical and Dental Council (SMDC) proudly took part in the 27th Annual Conference of the Association of Medical and Dental Councils of Africa (AMCOA), held under the theme “Regulator 2.0 – The Balanced Approach to Regulating Health Professionals.”

Bringing together representatives from 18 countries and over 20 health regulatory bodies — including those for medicine, dentistry, nursing, and allied health — the conference served as a vital platform for strengthening healthcare regulation across Africa.

This year’s focus was on building more supportive, balanced regulatory frameworks that promote both practitioner well-being and high standards of patient care. Emphasizing mental health and professional support for healthcare providers, the discussions aimed at reinforcing health systems and ensuring better public health outcomes.

The event also fostered networking and collaboration, enabling participants to share ideas and explore partnerships that can enhance healthcare oversight throughout the continent. Seychelles remains committed to contributing to a unified and resilient healthcare system across Africa.
