This week, the Health Professionals Council (HPC) joined members of the Medical and Dental Council and the Nursing and Midwifery Council in a five-day capacity-building workshop focused on strengthening governance and regulatory capabilities across Seychelles’ health professional regulatory bodies.
The first two days featured joint sessions covering core topics such as professional self-regulation, council governance, registration and accreditation processes, and complaint management. Representatives from the Social Workers Council also participated, benefiting from the shared learning experience.
From Wednesday onward, tailored sessions addressed the specific needs of each council to enhance practical governance improvements.
The workshop is facilitated by Commissioner Josephine Mwakutuya of the Health Commission of Zimbabwe, an expert with over 20 years in professional regulation leadership.
This initiative underscores the Ministry of Health’s commitment to strengthening regulatory institutions to protect public interest and maintain high professional standards.
