Continuous Professional Development (CPD) can be defined as “a range of learning activities through which health professionals maintain and develop throughout their careers to ensure that they retain their capacity to practice safely, effectively and legally within their evolving scope of practice.
As part of its mandate to uphold the highest possible standards, the HPC considers it essential for its registrants to remain up to date with current development in their respective fields through CPD and to also maintain and submit a portfolio upon re-registration. This is with the aim of ensuring that registrants continue to be competent and remain engaged in their professional careers.
In support of this, HPC aims to provide a platform in the form of monthly CPD sessions, held when resources allow, for Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) to share knowledge and expertise amongst themselves. These sessions take place at an HPC-provided venue on scheduled dates and offer an opportunity for AHPs who wish to deliver presentations or information-sharing activities to foster professional learning and encourage exchange of best practices across different cadres.
To further facilitate lifelong learning and CPD amongst its registrants, HPC has also included a number of free learning platforms here to access content that may contribute to their personal and professional development and/or careers. As of 5th September 2025, HPC has partnered with the World Continuing Education Alliance (WCEA) to launch a virtual learning platform for all its registrants.
Nonetheless, it remains the responsibility of each registrant to access appropriate CPD content and ensure that the content accessed is relevant to their specific field or cadres.
