HPC Chairperson’s message for International Allied Health Day

The educational gathering scheduled for today will adopt a distinct approach compared to the previous two years as it convenes to honour International Allied Health Professions Day.

The allied health professions (AHPs) play a crucial role in the provision of health services, encompassing activities related to health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation. The Health Professionals Council of Seychelles (HPC) is responsible for promoting and maintaining the utmost level of professional standards among healthcare practitioners in Seychelles.

Currently, the Health Professions Council (HPC) has a total of 521 active registrants across 17 different allied health professional cadres. It is important to note that the number of registrants vary within each cadre. However, it should be clarified that this statistic represents the combined count of legally registered practitioners in both the government and private sectors.  Is our future adequately safeguarded? Is there a sustainable workforce of allied health professionals to meet the country’s needs? Is the distribution of the Allied Health Professionals (AHP) ratio proportional in the government and private sectors? What are the problems, possibilities, and recommendations that can be identified to enhance prospects for a brighter future? Motto: “Stronger Together”

Theme: “AHPs in the right place, at the right time, with the right skills”. We anticipate that all participants will derive satisfaction from the productive discussions and make valuable contributions to advance the growth and continuity of allied health professionals.

Lastly, I would like to express my gratitude to all AHP’s in Seychelles for their exceptional dedication in allocating their valuable time in service to our nation.
